Centro de la Tercera Edad

El Centro, que se ubica en el Barrio de Lomo Apolinario dentro del Área Social, Cultural y Deportiva de Lomo Apolinario, se asienta sobre una parcela de forma irregular, y tiene como fin cubrir la demanda asistencial para los mayores creando un centro de día, así como, un anexo de apoyo a las instalaciones deportivas próximas.

The Centre, which is located in the Lomo Apolinario neighborhood, within the Lomo Apolinario Social, Cultural, and Athletic District, sits on an irregularly shaped lot, and is intended to meet the demand for care for the elderly by creating a day center as well as an annex to support nearby athletic facilities.

El Centro se desarrolla en una única planta con el fin de favorecer las circulaciones a las personas de movilidad reducida, con un programa básico de dependencias multifuncionales con el objeto de dar cabida a las diferentes actividades socio-culturales del barrio. El edificio se quiebra tanto en planta como en su volumen, con el fin de adaptarse a los condicionantes urbanísticos y programáticos.

The Center was designed on one floor, with the aim of favoring the circulation of individuals with reduced mobility, and offers a basic program for multifunctional dependents, with the goal of accommodating the various socio-cultural activities of the neighborhood. The building is fragmented as much in floor plan as it is in volume, with the aim of adapting itself to determinant urban and programmatic factors.

Para reforzar la idea, se desarrolla una envolvente continua de fachada y cubierta con paneles de zinc, poniendo de manifiesto, los aspectos más característicos de su volumetría.

To reinforce this idea, we wrapped the façade and roof in a continuous envelope of zinc panels, which make apparent the most characteristic aspects of the building’s volume.

Vivienda + Consulta Médica

La parcela sobre la que se asienta la edificación tiene una posición privilegiada.  Sus vistas al naciente son excepcionales, dominando la bahía de Las Palmas y el Puerto. Esta situación ha determinado en gran medida la posición de la casa, que se "alonga" sobre el paseo de la cornisa queriendo hacer suyas las vistas.

The plot on which the construction stands enjoys a privileged position. Looking out over the bay of Las Palmas and the Port, it has exceptional views to the east. This situation has to a great extent determined the positioning of the house, which is ‘stretched out’ along the Paseo de la Cornisa seafront promenade in order to take full advantage of the views.

Pero, lejos de lo que habíamos planteado al inicio, lo que finalmente más condicionó la forma de los dos edificios, no fue la vista, ni el programa, sino el subsuelo.  Gran parte de la parcela se encuentra sobre relleno profundo, y esto marcó y condicionó fuertemente posición y estructura de ambos edificios.  Los pilares se sitúan en el perímetro "adecuado" que señala el estudio geotécnico, evitando el relleno, y el resto de la edificación se expande en vuelo hacia el norte y el naciente.  El gesto de volar hacia estos extremos condiciona la forma final en grado máximo; una vez aceptado el riesgo y la apuesta por una estructura tan potente ya sólo restaba dejar patente su razón de ser.

However, far from what we had initially envisaged, what finally did most to condition the form of the two buildings was neither the views nor the program- me but the subsoil. Much of the plot is on deep landfill, and this circumstance exercised a major influence on the position and the structure of both buildings. The pillars are located on the ‘suitable’ perimeter indicated by the geotechnical study, avoiding the landfill, and the rest of the construction is extended in a cantilever to the north and east. The gesture of projecting out toward these edges conditions the final form in the highest degree; having accepted the risk of com- mitting to such a potent structure, all that remained was to make its raison d’être apparent.

La estructura de hormigón visto fuertemente texturizado queda vista en el interior y el exterior de la edificación, aportándole al conjunto ese aspecto tan "tectónico" que puede apreciarse en la maqueta.  El resto de los paramentos se reducen así a su papel de nuevo cerramiento secundario, en el que no se diferencian compositivamente, los huecos de los planos ciegos.

Desde el punto de vista del programa.  La edificación que se propone será utilizada por el mismo usuario para su vivienda particular y su consulta pediátrica.  La consulta, a petición del promotor, se ha dejado preparada para transformarse fácilmente en una segunda vivienda de dos o tres dormitorios con pequeñas modificaciones.

The strongly textured from the exposed concrete structure is visible both in the interior and on the exterior, giving the whole building the decidedly ‘tectonic’ aspect that can be appreciated in the model. The rest of the walls are thus redu- ced to the role of a secondary skin in which the voids are not differentiated in compositional terms from the blind planes.

From the point of view of the programme, the proposed constructions will be used by the client as his own home and for his paediatric practice. At the request of the developer, the consulting rooms have been designed to be transformed easily, with only minor modifications, into a second house with two or three bedrooms.
